Oil Rig Fire

feature No Comments

Today I got an alert on my phone about another oil rig on fire in the Gulf of Mexico. First thought… is this a conspiracy? Are burning oil rigs becoming our equivalent of roadside bombs? Common sense tells me it’s most likely a coincidence.

Regardless, it’s a sign of the times. There are some pretty strong signals pointing to a change in our offshore strategy. I understand the business of off-shore drilling employs thousands of people. Wouldn’t it be a good investment to take that same technology and experience and use it for off-shore wind energy? Yes, I know it’s expensive.

If we don’t make moves in this direction, we’ll be sadly left behind by countries who have chosen to take a more progressive stance on energy.
