waiting for Blago

feature No Comments
Networking in downtown Chicago, I had a several hours to spare between events. Stomach rumbling a little I decided to indulge myself in a McChicken.Yes, I know that’s not healthy. So, the McDonalds was completely depressing and the AC was really on high.

It felt like an airport meets doctors waiting room from hell. But, I chose to sit there and eat my McChicken anyway.

I stepped out of the building, slowly walking towards my next meeting. This happened to be right at 5pm in downtown Chicago. This also happened to be right around the corner from the Federal building where Blago’s verdict had just been announced. There was a horde of people waiting at the exit to see him. So, I stood there for a while with my camera phone ready to snap a shot. After a while I gave up and left.
What  struck me about this whole ordeal was how the mundane and the sensational are really so close to each other. As I stood there waiting for Blago to exit, I could see the Federal building was full of lawyers and law enforcement. There were also janitors meandering and regular employees just heading out after a day of work.
Made me feel pretty lucky that I had the opportunity to have a McChicken in peace – probably something Blago won’t have for a  while.
