Creating a mellow monster

Around 2002 I moved into a new apartment in the Chicago neighborhood Uptown. It was time to put some new work together. Little did I know the paintings would take me years to finish. The paintings began quickly as large sketches on canvas.

U of Iowa Alumni Association project

This project for the U of I Alumni Association somehow fell into my lap. I had been doing research about the Bowen Science Building and was introduced to some administrators at the Alumni Association.

The lost mural – Bowen Science Building

This mural was commissioned by the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. There was a group of medical students that organized everything, including the call-to-artists and awarding the job.  I believe the funding came from the School of Medicine. This was an entryway to the lecture halls.

Cost of Offshore Drilling

This disaster is currently 10 days old. It seems like it’s pretty late in getting the attention that it deserves. The whole ordeal reminds me of the Katrina reaction by the Bush administration. TOO LATE!
